Brace Mouth, False Teeth by Sita Brahmachari – review

LaurenV: 'I also love this book because it's dyslexia friendly which I think is a brilliant idea'

Sita Brahmachari's book Brace Mouth, False Teeth is so good. It's based on Zeni Carter, a girl who is doing her work experience at Magnolia Gardens Care Home. There she meets Alice who is an ex-Selfridges shopgirl, Frankie an ex-jazz musician, Mr Wilson a retired barrister and Joe a boy her age who's also on work experience.

Zeni has braces and is not very confident about them. When she arrives at Magnolia Gardens she meets a women called Alice who also has a teeth problem: she hasn't got any. The pair bond over this and eventually become friends.

I love this story because it's so relatable, like you yourself could be put into this situation. It starts out with Zeni having no choice about what placement she gets and being annoyed that she has to work in a care home but by the end of the week she loves it there so much she can't stop coming back. I also love this book because it's dyslexia friendly which I think is a brilliant idea and all books should have it. I'd really recommend this book to teens.
