Every Day by David Levithan – review

Pheebz: 'I really enjoyed this book because it shows how sometimes love between two people is always going to be impossible'

Every Day is the story of a teenager called A. A hasn't got a name like us because every day they wake up in a different body.

A's life is very difficult because every morning, A has to work out whether they've woken up as a girl or a boy, whether they're tall or small, clever or not, fat or thin, kind or unkind…

One day, A wakes up as a boy named Justin. So, like every other day, he goes to school. When he arrives, a girl is waiting for him. She's Justin's girlfriend and her name is Rhiannon. A says hello to her and she looks surprised. Doesn't Justin even say hello to her?

At lunchtime, A asks to eat lunch with Rhiannon. She's surprised that he's asked and happily accepts. After lunch, A suggests they go somewhere after school. She wants to see the sea, so he takes her to the beach where they have lots of fun together. A knows he's fallen in love with Rhiannon but he knows that it will be the only day he can spend with her because tomorrow he'll be in a different body unless he can find a way of staying with her…

I really enjoyed this book because it shows how sometimes love between two people is always going to be impossible. I think all teenagers would love this book and I really recommend it.
