Trouble by Non Pratt – review

emybot: 'I enjoyed this book, it wasn't a literary masterpiece but it wasn't bad either'

Trouble is a teenage pregnancy novel which is told from the dual perspective of both Hannah (the stereotypical 'popular' girl who is now left with nothing when her ex–best friend reveals to the school that she's pregnant) and Aaron (a mysterious new transfer student who pretends to be the baby's dad).

I enjoyed this book, it wasn't a literary masterpiece but it wasn't bad either. It was just fine, the writing was enjoyable and Pratt had the dual narrative down to a T: it gave more dimension to the plot and was much better then just Hannah and her 'friends'.

I also liked the plot; at first it appears to be your usual teen pregnancy story which a lot of people could be put off by but there are hints here and there leading up to a big plot twist and lots of mystery towards Aaron's old life and the dad of Hannah's baby: I was definitely kicking myself when the dad was revealed – I can't believe I didn't guess it!

Overall I'd say that this book is worth the read – it gives a different opinion on teen pregnancy and isn't as negative as how the media portrays it. It's also eye opening and will teach you a few lessons on how NOT to get pregnant which is helpful… I guess?
