Red by Alison Cherry – review

Red by Alison Cherry is about a girl called Felicity who seems to have it all. She lives in a redhead sanctuary, and she has everything she wants because of her red hair, but she has a secret.

She is naturally blonde, and if it gets out that she is an "artie" – a fake – her whole reputation will be ruined. One of the brunettes in her year finds out what she really is and she is blackmailed into doing stuff that will make her reputation get worse and worse. She also has a pageant coming up that can change her life; if she wins she could follow her dreams.

This is a really good book and I would recommend it to all girls from about 10 years up. It's really interesting and a clever idea and it could be read over and over again.

I would give it 4.5 starts out of 5 as it has everything a good chick lit novel needs: the boy she should be with but isn't, a lot of drama and a good story, and overall it is a very good book.
