Sylvanians

Fawn by Margi McAllister – review

Sylvanians: 'It is a sad book where lots of sad things happen but there are lots of hopeful moments too'

This is a story about a girl called Kirsty who decides to look after an orphaned fawn in secret. Kirsty's life is very difficult as her mum is depressed, and her dad is too busy working to look after mum, which means Kirsty has to look after her. Also her Auntie Sarah has died, and Kirsty is being bullied at school and that's not all her problems!!

So looking after the Fawn is really important to Kirsty as he makes her feel better, even though he cant talk to her; he is like a comfort and, she thinks, a lucky charm. Kirsty knows that one day Fawn will have to go back to the wild, but is she really able to let him go?

I would give this book 10/10 because of the way author keeps you in suspense and you really don't want to put the book down. It is a sad book where lots of sad things happen but there are lots of hopeful moments too. The writing is very descriptive, simple but beautiful.

I would recommend this book for 8+ and its a definite must read. Thank you Guardian Children's Books for recommending this to me!!
