Tillie McGillie’s Fantastical Chair by Vivian French – review

PrincessMegan: 'This is a very funny story about a magical Gran who waves her spotty hankie and strange things happen'

This book is about a little girl called Tillie who is in a wheelchair. This is unusual because there aren't many stories about children in wheelchairs.

This is a very funny story about a magical Gran who waves her spotty hankie and strange things happen, like the uncles went puffing down the stairs, the aunts spun around on their backs and best of all Tillie's chair flew.

She lives on the top floor of very high flats which means it is difficult for the uncles to carry her outside for fresh air. Gran wanted her to get more fresh air so she made her wheelchair fly her outside. She had lots of adventures outside and funny things happened like all the children fell into the pond.

At the end Gran turned the flats upside down so her flat was on the bottom floor and she could get outside easily. She could go and play with the two little girls she had met earlier on.

The best bit was the ending when the flats got turned upside down and the worst bit was when an aeroplane came very close to her head when she was flying in the wheelchair because she nearly got hurt.
