Ice Palace by Robert Swindells – review

lilybelle: 'Undoubtedly the book with the most beautiful, chilling descriptions I have ever read.'

"Starjik! Whisper his name and it was winter in your heart."

It's winter again and Starjik and his wolves start coming into Ivan's village every night, but when everyone wakes up in the morning, a child is always missing. One sad day, it's Ivan's beloved brother who has disappeared, and Ivan decides to go to Starjik's cavern and save all the poor children, but danger lies ahead...

Ice Palace was a fantastic story, and undoubtedly the book with the most beautiful, chilling descriptions I have ever read. It told an incredibly moving tale and I found it very hard to put down, I think I am definitely going to try other books by Robert Swindells. I can't seem to find any negative points about it and I would recommend this book to anyone (who loves reading!) over eight years old.

I REALLY enjoyed this book!

A poem inspired by Ice Palace:

Winter by Lilybelle

The grey sky surrounds the cold village.
The black trees give an air of sad loneliness,
Of wind and ice lacquered frost.
The screaming snow makes it's way,
Hissing through the ice,
Swishing through the shivers
To the icicles where it will stay.
The freeze makes you shiver, tremble,
Makes you think in cold colours,
White, silver, blue.
