The Forgotten Garden is enticing and mesmerising. It is full of mystery and suspense, which keeps you reading with hunger throughout the whole book. It is set in lots different times, which I loved about this book.
1900: Eliza is brought to a manor in Cornwall after her mother and brother dies. Here she meets Rose and as children they are best friends, but when Rose goes to America with her Neurotic mother she comes back a changed woman. Suddenly Eliza, Rose and her partner Nathaniel have a secret to keep but Eliza can't handle it.
1917: A young girl is brought to the shores of Australia in the war. She has no family, no name and no belongings apart from a white suitcase filled with clothes, a bunny and a book of fairytales. She is lost and vulnerable until a man down by the harbour takes her in.
1930: On the eve of a young girl's wedding her father tells her something, which changes her life forever. The wedding is called off and the girl disappears and her sisters hear nothing of her for years.
1975: An old lady goes to England to try and find out her past.
2010: Cassandra travels to England to try and find out her Grandmother's past. Her grandmother dies and is laid to rest with a secret which Cassandra starts to finally unravel, but is the past too much? Some things become forgotten and some things should stay forgotten.
This is exciting and fast paced. I think girls and boys will love it from the ages 13-99. Everyone will love this book and will not be able to put it down.
