Butterfly Rainbow

Muncle Trogg by Janet Foxley – review

Butterfly Rainbow: 'I liked this book A LOT because Foxley has used her imagination and added touches of magic here and there!'

"GIANTS live on the top of Mount Grumble, hidden from the HUMANS below. But not all of them are big. Muncle Trogg is so small that he is laughed at by the others for being human-sized. Fed up, he decides to take a look at the 'smallings' that he's meant to look like. But what he discovers is very surprising indeed."

So says the blurb at the back of the book. Muncle is a very small giant who is giving his Giantia exams so that after he passes he will have to find a job.

So before the exams Miss Bumfit, Muncle's class teacher, takes his class to the smalling museum where His Wiseness The Wise Man will show them around. The Wise Man showed Muncle and his classmates a pair of smalling clothes which Muncle's huge classmates think he should try on……. And Eureka! It fits Muncle! Next came the smalling magic book!

After the field trip ended, Sir Biblos (the wise man) wanted to talk to Muncle because he thought that Muncle was a clever but a small giant. So Sir Biblos took Muncle to a very expensive restaurant to have lunch. They talked about having a play for the king's birthday. They talked about how Muncle could dress up as a smalling in the museum's clothes and Muncle's pa could become the giant who defeats the smalling.

I shall stop here because after this, there are many surprises which I won't tell!!!

I liked this book A LOT because Foxley has used her imagination and added touches of magic here and there!

I would recommend this book to the age group of 8 to 10...
