Collins lexicographers have compiled a list of words that have become obsolete by tracking how often we use them. The list includes an interesting mixture; from "wittol", used to describe a man who tolerates his wife's unfaithfulness, to "alienism", the study and treatment of mental illness. These words will now be omitted from the publisher's smaller, general-use dictionaries.
