When the University of Worcester asked parents what books they most wanted to pass on to their children, one in five replied with Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, followed by the Harry Potter series, The Lord of the Rings, Pride and Prejudice and Alice in Wonderland.

If you are a parent or guardian, which books do you most like to read to your children, and why? As a child, which books did you most like your mother or father to read to you?
