Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson – review

Jennifer, Minnie, aged 1 and Bebe, aged 6 months: 'I am glad to have had this introduced to us and it is proving a firm favourite'

This has been re-published as an 'essential picture book classics'.

Like a lot of great children's books the concept is a simple one; Harold goes for a walk one evening armed with just his imagination and a purple crayon.

This is a beautiful children's book and the contrast of wee Harold and the bold drawings of the big crayon work well.

I had never heard of Harold before we read this book, which we have done frequently now.

Minnie likes to point out the moon and I am glad to have had this introduced to us and it is proving a firm favourite.
