The Man From the Land of Fandango by Margaret Mahy and Polly Dunbar – review

Jennifer, Minnie and Bebe: 'It rhymes, which is nice, and moves at a good pace and I do like the drawings, but they don't jump out at you'

Right, now on the surface of things I should like this book as it's jolly and fun and Polly Dunbar has done the drawings.

It also has a Spike Milligan style feel to the story... But I just didn't warm to it, I found Mr Fandango a wee bit creepy and Minnie was OK with it but didn't ask for it again.

It rhymes, which is nice, and moves at a good pace and I do like the drawings, but they don't jump out at you.

Mr Fandango is a clown-like figure conjured up by two children and they go on a quick adventure, he's a man of many means and magic.

It's still a good little read but not one that we would revisit.
