In brief: Mondays in the Sun chosen as Spanish Oscar entry

Plus: Trinity College Dublin seeks legal advice over Star Wars architectural similarities, and Annette Bening signs for Somerset Maughan adaptation

Fernando Leon's Mondays in the Sun, which took the Golden Shell at San Sebastian, has been named as Spain's entry for this year's foreign language Oscar. It beat Pedro Almodovar's Talk To Her and José Luis Garci's Story of a Kiss. Meanwhile Broken Wings - which swept the board at the Israeli Academy Awards - is to be Israel's entry.

Trinity College Dublin has asked its legal advisors to look into alleged similarities between the Jedi archives from Star Wars Episode II and the college's own Long Room university library. RTE reports that the college was tipped off to the possibility that the archive from Attack of the Clones might be based upon the room by a student magazine.

Annette Bening is set to star in Being Julia, based on W Somerset Maughan's novel Theatre. The film is being scripted by playwright Ronald Harwood, who was also responsible for The Pianist.
