The is book is full of secrets, some you may discover and others will remain a mystery. You are warned at the beginning not to read this book as it could be dangerous, but I read it anyway and loved it!

Two kids, Cass and Max Ernest, are our heros and they are on a perilous adventure to uncover a deadly secret. It all begins when they come across a box left in a house where a magician has vanished and in this box is the curious Symphony of Smells. They also come across a notebook belonging to the magician which for some reason is wanted desperately by two sinister, beautiful people. These two spooky characters also kidnap a boy who attends Cass and Max-Ernets school but why? And why do these two baddies wear white gloves all the time?

These are just a handful of questions that come up and some are answered and others are not. I have never read a book like this one as the author, who hides his real name, constantly interrupts the story to speak to us. He can be really funny which is a good thing as the story sometimes gets a bit scary, but in a good way! I really did not want to put this book down as the story was so exciting and always kept you guessing.

This is one book I highly recommend to anyone 8+ who wants something very different. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
