I like The Silver Donkey book because it doesn't only tell one story...but four stories told by one character!!!

The main character is a blind soldier that wants to get back home to his sick brother. He is lost in the forest and two children come and give him food so he doesn't starve to death.

The soldier has a small silver donkey charm that is precious to him. He tells the children very interesting stories which link to the silver donkey charm. One story is about the donkey that helps Mary get to the barn in time for her baby Jesus to be born. Another story is about a donkey that is going up and down rocks to carry hurt people back to a medical centre. He is very very tired but he knows that he has to help and he will get treated well after.

The children help the soldier to get home by not telling any grown ups that he had left the war. The soldier told the children not to tell adults about him because they would ask questions like: "why aren't you working in the war anymore?". The children get him to a boat and he sails back home.

I loved everything about this story. I thought it was so cute. At the end, the soldier left his precious silver donkey charm to the little girls.

Read about the sisters and the soldier's adventures in THE SILVER DONKEY!!! It is more than 10 out of 10!!!
