Hilary and Jackie director Anand Tucker has announced plans to film November 5, a film about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. Screen Daily reports that Tucker is aiming to start shooing the film towards the end of next year. The script will be written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, whose other credits include 24 Hour Party People, and A Revenger's Tragedy.

Julianne Moore is set to star in Running with Scissors, an adaptation of the memoir by Augusten Burroughs which proved a bestseller in the US. The film, about Burroughs' mother Deirdre, will see Moore in the lead role. "Julianne Moore has been my favourite actress since I saw Safe," Burroughs told Variety. "And I am thrilled to trade my own mother in for her."

The Tokyo film festival has awarded its Grand Prix to Broken Wings, an Israeli film. The film, about a mother and her children attempting to deal with the sudden death of her husband, was heavily nominated for the Israeli film academy awards.
