A Midsummer Tights Dream by Louise Rennison – review

I guess that this book just wasn't for me, although I can see why other people might like it. Personally, I found it quite dull, and the plot was quite difficult to understand. It seemed like there was no real story in the book, and I found Tallulah Casey quite hard to relate to. This might just be because I haven't read the first book yet, (Withering Tights), I don't know.

A Midsummer Tights Dream is about a girl called Tallulah who attends Dother Hall: a performing arts college. Maybe it's not the best performing arts college, but she meets some fabulous friends and some bewildering boys while she's there. She's not had much luck so far, but all she really wants is her dream kiss and respect for her talents (the best being Irish dancing).

The ending is sweet, with Tallulah finally realising who is the right boy all along, (even though he wasn't the one she had in mind at the start of the book). The characters each have their own strong personalities, which I like, and there are some hilarious parts too.

Overall, I thought that the book was very funny and good; it just wasn't for me. However, I would recommend it to teenage girls who want a funny and heart-warming read.
