Queen Victoria's grandson who suffered from syphilis of the brain. One victim, Mary Kelly, worked in his household and may have blackmailed him over his visits to brothels

Sir William Gull
The Queen's doctor, suspected of the murders to prevent a scandal about the duke. Reportedly spotted in Whitechapel

Thomas Cream
American doctor hanged for the 1892 killing of prostitutes in Lambeth. His alleged last words were a confession that he was the Ripper

Aaron Kosminski
A Polish hairdresser known to hate women. He lived in Whitechapel and was sent to an asylum in 1889

John Pizer
A shoemaker known as "Leather Apron". Supposedly seen arguing with Annie Chapman, one of the victims, at the scene of her murder

James Maybrick
A Liverpool merchant with lodgings in Whitechapel, may have written The Diary of Jack the Ripper

Montague John Druitt
Failed barrister whose family thought he was the Ripper

Francis Tumblety
Irish-American doctor who fled London in 1888 while awaiting trial for indecent assault against four men. Preserved uteruses were found among his possessions when he died in 1903

William Bury
Hanged in 1889 for killing his prostitute wife. Her mutilation aped the Ripper attacks
