Tarantino to make novel debut

Director will release a book to accompany his next film, Kill Bill

Quentin Tarantino is to have his first novel published next year. Entitled Kill Bill, the novel will come out in spring of 2003, a few months before the movie of the same name. Tarantino has also written the screenplay and begins shooting for Miramax in June.

Both novel and film tell the story of a woman who falls into a coma after being shot at her wedding and, when she wakes up five years later, goes all out for revenge on her attackers. Tarantino told Variety "Kill Bill is a cinematic novel. It's not a novelisation."

The film will star Uma Thurman, Daryl Hannah, Lucy Liu and David Carradine. The book, according to the editor-in-chief of Talk Miramax Books, Jonathan Burnham, "is going to be an extraordinary fictional debut".
