After winning an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in Richard Linklater’s coming-of-age drama Boyhood, Patricia Arquette has decided to reveal all about her life in an upcoming memoir.
The actress, who is currently starring in CSI: Cyber, has landed a book deal with Random House for a look at “her unconventional family, being a single mother at the age of 20, and her experience as a woman in Hollywood,” according to the publisher.
In a statement from Random House, Arquette said: “Over the years, the public has come to know aspects of me through my roles in film and television. Writing a memoir will be a new and intimate artistic journey for me, and I hope to bring to it the same honesty I have always sought to bring to my work as an actor.”
Arquette made headlines this year for her rousing speech about equality but also her backstage comments about race and sexuality, which caused a backlash. “It’s time for all the women in America, and all the men that love women and all the gay people and all the people of colour that we’ve all fought for to fight for us now,” she told reporters.
Her career has seen its fair share of highs and lows, both on and off screen. The actress has starred in films such as True Romance and Lost Highway and had a lead role in crime drama Medium. She was also married to Nicolas Cage but the couple separated after just nine months.
“Patricia Arquette is a remarkable woman and the instant empathy audiences feel when they see her work on screen is completely evident on the page,” said Random House publisher Susan Kamil. “The material I read is revelatory and deeply moving. Not a surprise from an actress of such nuance and intelligence.”
