The world’s most prestigious writing competition for young people has opened its doors once again, as Foyle are leading the charge to find the most exciting and innovative poets aged between 11 and 17.

Last year was a record-breaking competition, with 7,603 entries from 78 countries (you can read the winning poems from last year – and get a sense of the competition! – here).

This year’s winners, as judged by prize-winning poets Liz Berry and Michael Symmons Roberts, will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in London on National Poetry Day, 8 October 2015. The top 15 poems are then published in an anthology and older winners (aged 14 – 17) are also invited to attend a week’s creative writing course at a prestigious Arvon centre. Younger winners receive a visit to their school from a professional poet, followed by distanced mentoring. All 100 winners receive one year’s Youth Membership of the Poetry Society, a range of book prizes, and more!

How to enter

The competition is free to enter and poems can be on any theme, and of any length, they just have to be written in English. You can read the full rules and enter online here. Deadline for entries is midnight GMT on the 31st July 2015.
