Potterhead103

Water Born by Rachel Ward – review

Potterhead103: 'soon it's clear that the locket and disappearances are linked…'

Nic swims for the local girls swimming team. Her dad isn't keen on her hobby but he allows her to go. She notices her dad has files on his computer concerning people who had drowned in the area, in particular teenage girls. Nic reads the files and searches her parents room trying to find out information and finds an old locket in an envelope that has "found with Nic 22/1/17 K.A" written on it. Nic puts the locket on and doesn't think about it till she goes back to the pool.

When she's swimming she sees a boy in the water and screams for the lifeguards but no one else can see him. She sees him at the next session and he talks to her and coaches her swimming. Meanwhile her neighbour Milton is helping her find out about her dad's obsession with the drowning girls, and soon it's clear that the locket and disappearances are linked…

I really enjoyed this book, it seemed strange to begin with but it got better as the book went on.

I recommend this book for people who have read John Green because it is similar to some of his books.
