Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – review

Themortalbookthief: 'One thing I know for sure is that this book will be in my Top 14 of 2014'

I have been waiting for this book for ages. It had already been out in America for a while and everyone was raving about how perfect it was. I had been scouring the internet for it. However I couldn't find it anywhere, at least not without a ridiculous price.

A few weekends ago I walked into a book shop, and there it was! I don't think I could have moved faster! I started the book later that day, and I was instantly drawn into Cath's story. Cath is a brilliant character: she encompasses the anxiety filled, excitement ridden, shut-away fangirl a lot of us are. Rainbow's writing is just as spectacular as everyone says it is. This book was full to the brim of so many emotions, it really was like riding a coming-of-age roller-coaster. I actually found it quite intriguing to realise that in many ways (but not every) I related to Cath and I think this probably made my experience of reading the book even more fantastical. All the characters in this story had their own special factors which really brought the novel together and they are all very human, which just brings the whole level of writing and storytelling up.

So far this year, it is definitely the top book I have read, and – I can't believe I am saying this – maybe even my favourite book I have ever read (this is not set in stone, don't get me wrong, I am unfathomably in love with pretty much every book I read). One thing I know for sure is that this book will be in my Top 14 of 2014.

I highly recommend this book to readers from Teen to Adult. This is such a feel-good contemporary and will have you in giggles; smiling and blushing at the pages non-stop.

I rate this book: 100% (Even 110%)
