1. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

This series isn't just one of my favourite paranormal series, it's one of my all time favourite series, and I physically can't stand it when people judge it by its name and not the story. Sure, it centres around three races of vampires and contains some bloodlust, but the main themes are true friendship, loyalty and following your heart even if it will change your entire world. It has a brilliant balance of comedy, action and heartbreak, and the main character proves that it doesn't matter where you come from, it only matters how you choose to live your life.

2. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

If you haven't heard of this series yet, it's time to get up and buy them as you're seriously missing out. These books are mysterious, sexy and full of great characters who will stay in your hearts forever.

3. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I'm not too sure if this series classes as paranormal, but it contains some seriously swoon-worthy guys and a great mixture of myth and action. This series is another one of my all time favourite series, and the final book broke my heart in two, in the best and worst ways!

4. Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter

THIS SERIES IS INCREDIBLE AND I CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I LOVE IT *breathes heavily*. These books make me want to move to America, join the nearest summer camp and never leave.

5. Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout

I'm not the biggest alien fan, but this book really blew me away. It was surprisingly funny and had a few hot guys who popped up, so that was fun. The main character was relatable and the romance as bumpy as a rollercoaster going up its tracks, but in the best way possible!
