The heroes of this book are Cass and Max-Ernest and they are 11 years old. A magician has disappeared under strange circumstances and the kids are on his trail. They end up in the middle of all sorts of strange and unusual adventures which leave you wanting to read the second book in the series straight away.

I love Max-Ernest because he is a little bit weird but very interesting at the same time. The best part of the book was when they found the Symphony of Smells because they didn't understand what it was or how it worked. I really enjoyed this book and wanted to read the rest of the series very quickly.

I recommend this book to readers from ages 7-9 because it is a fictional mystery but very easy to read for those readers who like long books. I definitely give this book 5/5 because it is so good!
