The Borribles by Michael De Larrabeiti – review

Bookworm1408: 'The whole idea of being a Borrible was just amazing and it got exciting and sad, depressing and happy'

This book is amazing! It is quite old but don't be put off; it is awesome. My mum read it when she was young and my brother read it a couple of years ago. I didn't really fancy it at the start. I thought it looked a bit old fashioned and boring but I kick myself hard for being so stupid.
It's about a group of 'people' who live in abandoned parts of London. They are kids that came from a 'bad start' and have run away from home. When chief look-out, Knocker finds and captures a Rumble (The Borribles arch enemies) everything goes crazy. Knocker yearns for a chance to earn another name and when Borrible leader Spiff asks him to be a historian on the Great Rumble Hunt he sees an opportunity to finally fulfill his dream. But being a historian is not all it's cut out to be and Knocker finds himself up to his neck in trouble. With a secret to hide and a mission to complete the pressure's on. I was hooked from the very beginning. The whole idea of being a Borrible was just amazing and it got exciting and sad, depressing and happy. There are characters that you love from the very beginning and others not so much. If you've ever been through a hard time then you might be able to relate to the characters. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Tolkien and Rowling. This book is GENIUS!!!!!!!!!
