Emily Windsnap and the Castle in the Mist by Liz Kessler – review

Ciara – Roskear Reviewers: 'I would rate this book 5/5 stars as it is very good'

Emily Windsnap goes on a trip to find some jewels and finds a magic ring that belongs to Neptune (the king of the sea). Neptune then visits Emily's and Shona's (her best friend who is also a mermaid) school to get them to find his lost jewels; one of the jewels is the ring!! Will Emily give it back? More importantly will Neptune find out?

Being the king of the sea, Neptune does find out and punishes her by sending the boat she lives in flying across the sea and away from her parents. In the distance there is a castle. The ring takes Emily to the castle where she finds someone who is a semi-mer. Will she get in trouble?

Emily and Shona are my favourite characters because they like adventures. The characters are so life like sometimes I feel like I'm that character. I don't like Neptune because he acted like the best person in the world and he's not, even though he is the king. I am I bit uneasy about Mr Beeston who is a bit strange because he works for Neptune and in book one he tricked Emily and her mum.
I love this book even though there are some scary parts, my favourite part was when Emily and Shona tried to get to the castle but they couldn't, then Emily tries by herself and succeeds…

I would recommend this book for 7-13 year olds because some of the scary bits might cause nightmares for younger children including some 7 year olds. I would rate this book 5/5 stars as it is very good.
