Marcus is a baker's son. Like the rest of his family, he works hard and works really long hours. One day he is bringing back the baker's cart to his home when he sees a sleek beautiful horse. Suddenly the golden reins gets passed to him and the young boy holding the horse runs away. Then Marcus realises who the horse is and his whole life starts to spiral out of control as he has to bring his family into his secret..
This was a really nice short read. I liked the way that it was so easy to follow which would be very appealing to more reluctant readers. The relationship between Marcus and the Incitatus was lovely and I loved the ending.
It gave you a real sense of Roman times and how powerful the hold was by Caesar over the people.
Overall, a good little book.
