Ink Blot

The Glass Bird Girl by Esme Kerr – review

Ink Blot: 'There wasn't a moment where you didn't want to read on'

The Glass Bird girl was a brilliant book which, although written in an old-fashioned style, was exciting and mysterious. There wasn't a moment where you didn't want to read on as the plot kept you captivated with its twists and turns.

The main character, Edie, is sent to a boarding school to keep an eye on Anastasia, a rich Russian princess. On arrival Edie finds out that Anastasia keeps losing things and then blaming the theft on other people. What seems like a case of forgetfulness soon turns into a full-on mystery as more suspects appear and the bond between Anastasia and Edie deepens.
This book is most definitely aimed at girls and is a good read for fans of Enid Blyton. I would recommend this book for girls aged 8-12 as it is a good adventure-mystery book which will make you want to read it again and again and again! I would give this book 9/10.
