Lady Grace Mysteries was a short story that was entertaining and easy to read. The characters were very easy to warm to and the plot very interesting. This book is about Lady Grace who is high up in Her Majesty's court as a lady-in-waiting.
It is Christmas and the frozen river and snowy scenes captivate all the people of London who love skating and playing on the ice. Everyone is invited to the Christmas fair that is been held near the glossy iced-over river. It is all fun and games as people skate around buying spiced fruits and homemade cakes until someone screams! A man is found dead on an abandoned boat on the river with the only two coins over his eyes as clues to his murderer.
Lady Grace works as the Queen's personal spy to uncover the mystery and secrets are discovered that changes things in a family forever. This book was good, the plot really developed through the story. At first glance I thought it was for a younger age group as it was not very thick and looked quite easy to read, however, as the story line thickens and the characters developed I surprised myself by been strangely entertained. Although it only took me about three hours to read I think it was as a whole a very good book suitable for a variety of ages.
My favourite character was Grace as she was determined and loyal, showing a lot of skill; it was easy to warm to her as the way the author wrote in a diary style made it easier to place your self in her shoes. My favourite part of the book was defiantly the fair; the detail used to describe the stalls, especially the use of the five senses, really made me feel like I was there.
