Bob’s Best Ever Friend by Simon Bartram – review

Nicki, Paul and Luke: 'The pictures as usual are amazingly detailed and tell a back story all of their own'

This is the follow up to Bob the Man on The Moon which Luke has always really liked. Luke also likes Dougal Diary of a Deep Sea Diver by the same author.

This time Bob is still working as the man on the moon although it now appears he has to work nights as well as days! However, he feels lonely and wishes to have a "best ever friend" to share his experiences.

The pictures as usual are amazingly detailed and tell a back story all of their own, with both stories coming together at the end. There is much more of a story in this book compared to the first one but Luke's favourites, the aliens, are still everywhere, although Bob still does not notice them. The story does have a happy ending with Bob finding an unusual friend.

The copy of the book we received also came with an audio CD read by the author and this added to the appeal as Luke could enjoy the story on the move and the author performed it really well. It is aimed at a slightly older reader than the first Bob book. Luke and his dad still really enjoyed it.
