The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by AVI – review

The first line did it for me and as soon as I started I couldn't stop reading. The the first line: "Not every thirteen-year-old girl was accused of murder, put on trial, and proven guilty. But I was just such a girl" instantly makes you want to know how she was accused of murder, how she was put on trial and how she gets out of being proven guilty.

The basic outline of the plot is that she gets aboard a boat to America. On the boat she meets the Captain. The Captain is feared by the crew and very soon she is on the wrong side of both the Captain and the crew. But the question that remains in your mind throughout the book is how will this ever lead to her being accused of murder?! The way in which the book works is to always keep you wondering about how it will end. It makes sure you know everything but nothing at the same time.

I rate this book 10/10 because it just kept me thinking. This is a book for anyone who likes adventure but I would also say it is a brilliant mystery book and a quest about Charlotte who wants to be. This is one of my favourite books and I would really recommend it to anyone! It was one of those books that you felt really sad when you finished it because of how good it was!
