Kirsten Dunst will star in the horror A Jealous Ghost, about a young woman who begins to believe that events in her life are mimicking those depicted in Henry James' classic supernatural tale, The Turn Of The Screw, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which will be directed by Spanish film-maker Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, is based on the identically-titled 2005 novel by Evening Standard columnst AN Wilson.

Dunst's character is an American student who travels to London to write a dissertation on James' book, but finds her own circumstances begin to reflect its strange goings on. The Spider-Man actor is also taking on producer duties on the project, the screenplay for which has been written by Megan Holley.

Lopez-Gallego is an up and coming director who is best known for last year's critically acclaimed festival hit King of the Hill.
