With TV schedules chock-a-block full of irritating property makeover shows, you can't deny we're all obsessed with interiors. But if you fancy drooling over something more stunning than a well-fitted skirting board, the Design Hotels Year Book 2005 is a thick, glossy journey into aesthetic escapism.
Making it onto the exclusive members' list of The Design Hotels consortium has always been a sign of being a very delicious, hip and clever hotel indeed, but before now the gorgeous photos and details of the world's most architecturally pleasing retreats could only be seen on the website designhotels.com, or by sending off for the annual directory. Now fabulous shots of the palm trees that grow from inside the lobby and through the ceiling at FCC Angkor in Cambodia, and the imaginative neon lighting of the Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm can be explored in a proper book that is much more visually satisfying than even the most dramatic Llewelyn-Bowen flourish.
