UN war crimes fugitive Radovan Karadzic has written another novel, a former associate said yesterday while promoting the book.

The former Bosnian Serb leader's "semi-autobiographical" work Miraculous Chronicles of the Night reached the publisher through "secret channels as a computer disk", said the former Bosnian Serb information minister Miroslav Toholj.

A book by former President Slobodan Milosevic's wife, Mirjana Markovic, who fled to Russia in 2000, was also being promoted in Belgrade, illustrating the resurgence of hardliners and nationalists.

Karadzic, who was indicted in 1995 by the war crimes tribunal in The Hague for genocide and crimes against humanity is thought to be hiding in the Serb-controlled half of Bosnia. Karadzic has dodged several attempts to capture him and Mr Toholj said the book would give no clues as to his whereabouts.

Karadzic has written at least two books while in hiding.
